Welcome to the Vr4tes website.
The labour market in the electrical sector in Europe faces several challenges. For instance, the free movement of workers inside the EU clashes with certain specific certifications and equipment for each country in the EU. Harmonising knowledge between electrical technicians across European countries is crucial for several reasons like Interoperability, Safety Standards, Market Integration, and Cross-Border Trade.
The VR4TES approaches this bottleneck, using tailor-made Virtual Reality (VR) simulations with a focus on electrical substations. It serves as an intermediary point between the high-voltage transmission lines and the lower-voltage distribution lines that deliver electricity to homes, businesses, and industries. This will support a responsible and pedagogically sound use of VR as an educational technology, in line with the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 (Action 6), the EU strategy on Web 4.0 and virtual worlds, as well as contributing to the Digital transformation of educational organisations in line with the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027 (Action 5).
OUR VISION
The main objectives of the VR4TES project are:
- Develop an online database of electrical substation laws that encompasses regulations from different European countries.
- Development of a 3D substation model.
- "Train-the-trainer" program in VR, designed to prepare materials and activities to transfer the knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary in order to effectively train others in VR technologies.
- Deploying experimental practice in the VR field, involving setting up controlled experiments with students to observe, analyse, and validate the virtual models.
- Dissemination and technological transfer between VR4TES project and educational communities, which involves the exchange of knowledge, innovations, and technologies developed to educational institutions.
These five VR4TES project objectives clearly address all the key points in the main priority selected (Horizontal Priority). Virtual reality holds significant promise for transforming digital education in many ways.
